Arracourt: Episode 15 — The Panthers Reach the Command Post

One of the most dangerous moments at Arracourt came when German Panthers penetrated so deeply that they threatened Combat Command A’s command post and support trains. This episode explores the crisis created when the battle moved beyond the forward screen and into the space where headquarters, radios, fuel trucks, ammunition carriers, mechanics, recovery vehicles, and medical support kept the American force alive. German tanks near the command post could have disrupted the entire American armored system, even without destroying every Sherman. The episode explains why rear areas are never truly safe in mobile warfare and how Clarke’s command survived by keeping its communications and reactions functioning under direct danger.
