Chinese Farm: Episode 22 — South to Suez
Avraham Adan’s drive south from Deversoir turned the Israeli countercrossing into a direct threat to the Egyptian Third Army. Moving along the west bank toward Suez, Israeli armored forces attacked surface-to-air missile sites, artillery positions, road junctions, and supply routes that sustained Egyptian troops east of the canal. Geography began working in Israel’s favor, as roads, ports, and rear areas became instruments of encirclement. The Third Army still held ground in Sinai, but its lifelines were increasingly vulnerable. This is armored warfare at the operational level: not merely destroying enemy tanks, but cutting the functions that allow an army to keep fighting where it stands.
