Crusader: Episode 9 — Bir el Gubi
Bir el Gubi tells the story of one of the first serious shocks to the British advance. British armor expected movement and momentum, but the Italian Ariete Armoured Division offered stubborn resistance with tanks, infantry, artillery, and anti-tank guns. The episode challenges the simplified view that Italian forces were merely secondary in the desert war and shows how a prepared combined arms defense could punish overconfident armored movement. Bir el Gubi revealed early in Crusader that speed alone would not be enough to break the Axis position. Produced by Trackpads.com.
