Welcome to Famous Tank Battles!

It's not just the tank. It's the moment when technology, doctrine, terrain, logistics, training, leadership, and timing all collide under fire.

From Cambrai in Nineteen Seventeen to the deserts of Desert Storm and beyond, Famous Tank Battles follows the clashes that shaped armored warfare across the modern age. These are the battles where breakthrough theory met real ground, where surprise could open a front, where a broken bridge could kill an offensive, and where one ridge, one village, or one hour of confusion could change the whole outcome.

Across this series, you will hear how tanks first helped crack trench systems, how armored warfare evolved in the deserts of North Africa, how massed armor fought on the Eastern Front, how desperate defenses held under impossible pressure, and how late twentieth-century mechanized warfare turned speed, sensors, and command into battlefield advantage. Each season takes a major battle and explains what happened, why it happened, how the fighting actually worked, and why it still matters.

This is not a parade of armor thickness, gun calibers, and famous vehicle names. It is the story of how armored warfare really developed — through innovation, confusion, adaptation, failed exploitation, logistical strain, battlefield recovery, and the constant struggle to turn local shock into lasting success.

This is Famous Tank Battles, developed by Dr Jason Edwards.
