The night of 15 October 1973 was the opening movement of Israel’s countercrossing at Deversoir. Armored columns, paratroopers, engineers, and bridge convoys pushed through darkness toward the Suez Canal while trying to preserve surprise and avoid getting trapped in the corridor east of the water. The result was controlled chaos: night movement, confused road networks, contested approaches, and commanders racing the clock before Egypt could recognize the full danger. Operational opportunity became physical struggle as tanks needed roads, bridges needed protection, and infantry had to clear ground that maps made look simple.
